In 2019, Dr. Andrea Volk opened SafiraMD Medical Aesthetics and Wellness Center inside the Halcyon development at 6345 Halcyon Way, Alpharetta. The decision followed 21 years in medicine, including residency and fellowship training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in both anatomic and clinical pathology and dermatopathology.
Those years behind the microscope gave Dr. Volk a rare advantage. She had diagnosed thousands of skin conditions at their deepest layers before ever picking up a syringe or calibrating a laser. That diagnostic foundation became the cornerstone of SafiraMD.

Meet Dr. Andrea Volk
Dr. Andrea L. Volk earned her MD from the Medical College of Georgia in 1998. She completed residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by a fellowship in dermatopathology at the same institution.
That foundation in diagnostic pathology led her to the A4M Aesthetics Fellowship under Dr. Sharon McQuillan, one of the pioneers of aesthetic medicine education. The combination of microscopic-level skin knowledge and hands-on aesthetic training created a practitioner uniquely qualified to bridge science and beauty.
Her career before SafiraMD included positions with Bako Integrated Physician Solutions, D-PATH, Mid-Atlantic Pathology Services, and Quest Diagnostics. Each role deepened her understanding of how skin behaves, heals, and ages at a cellular level.
